Is your company ready for disaster?
What would you do if a storm flooded your offices or data center? Or how would you respond if a power outage blacked out your servers? How would you recover your data and keep the business running after an unforeseen disaster? When disasters strike unprepared companies the consequences range from prolonged system downtime and the resulting revenue loss to the companies going out of business completely, yet many IT shops are not prepared to deal with such scenarios.
Disasters can take many different forms. While most of us automatically think of storm, fire, flood or theft as the primary risk factors, the reality is that many disasters can occur from sudden hardware failure, or human error. While these types of failures often do not get classified as disaster, if the backup is inconsistent, it could be devastating to a business. Many businesses get complacent and do not test the integrity of their backups until it is too late.
Have you tested your backup plan lately?
Have you asked yourself lately, "What would the impact be to my business if the data on my servers suddenly vaporized?" Many of us do not like to think of these scenarios and just simply think "it cannot happen to us". The unfortunate reality is that it happens everyday, to someone. Don't get caught with your pants down when it happens to you.
